David McCullough Interview

I could not find an interview from 1968, the year the book was published, with McCullough talking about the book. Nor have I found anything of him recently talking about the book. Instead, here’s a video from The Kalb Report interviewing McCullough.

WWI Overview

Here’s a great video that summarizes WWI from Ferdinand’s assassination all the way to the end.

Barbara Demick Lecture

Here is a lecture Barbara Demick gave at BYU’s Kennedy Center. Just a note: there’s some buzzing in the PA system at the lecture site. It is not your computer.

The Look of Zero G

Here’s some videos about the Zero G flights described in Packing for Mars. The first video explains how what the plane does and how the parabolas create weightlessness. The second video is of people experiencing weightlessness. Just like in Mary’s experience, the crew yells “feet down!” to let people know to right themselves before gravity kicks back in.

Caregiver Training

For those of you who might be dealing with this issue right now or know someone who is, I’d like to post a few links to help people who choose to take care of an elderly family member in the home.

The first is a 33-part series of YouTube videos from UCLA which help give practical training to a home caregiver to someone with Alzheimers and Dementia. I’m posting the first one here.

This series of videos is from Senior Helpers, an in-home care company. I’m not advocating on their behalf but they put out a great 4-part series for home caregivers dealing with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
